Homemaker Monday ~ Week of June 24

Wow, it's been awhile, things have been a little on the crazy side here the last few weeks and I haven't had much time to even glance at my laptop much less blog. However, I think things I have finally settled down enough that I can hopefully get back into a routine of posting weekly.

With that in mind, I'm going to start linking up again with Sandra and her Happy Homemaker Monday series.

The Weather ~ We had some pretty substantial storms come through North East Louisiana in the wee hours of the morning but the day itself has been rather nice, even the humidity was pretty decent today.

The rest of the week is looking rather wet but at least the humidity will be low!

For Dinner ~

I had a pulled pork sandwich, Mike had leftover red beans and rice, and the girls had leftover pizza.

On my reading pile ~

I'm taking a break from The Dark Tower series by Stephen King and am working my way through the first few books of the Shannara Chronicles by Terry Brooks. I've finished the first one, Elfstones of Shannara on Saturday and am about halfway through the Wishsong of Shannara.

Movies or Shows I watched this weekend ~

I've been working through the SG-1 series the last few weeks, so I watched a few episodes of season 8 over the weekend.

Mike and I are also watching a series on Netflix called Blackspot. It's rather good. The series was originally made in France so it's dubbed but the storyline's good enough that I can look past the few slips here and there. It's actually dubbed quite well and after a while, you don't really notice it.

On my TV this week~

  • SG-1 season 8
  • Blackspot season 2
  • GoodOmens

On the Menu for this week ~

I honestly haven't given this much thought yet. I've fallen out of the habit of making a weekly menu which can be seen unfortunately in my budget.  I know one day this week we will have steak and roasted broccoli and potatoes. Then maybe a shrimp dish and maybe some spaghetti but after that, I'm just not sure.

What I'm crocheting this week ~

I am taking a break from the Christmas ripple blanket and am working on a baby blanket for a friend. I'm about halfway done with it at this point and hope to wrap it up this week.

Non-regular Chores for the week ~

  • bath the dogs and take them to get their heartworm shots and flea pills
  • the kitchen needs a good deep clean
  • work on scanning family pictures into the computer
  • check on some prices for my mom
  • reschedule doctor appointment for Kyla
Looking around the house ~

Most all my daily chores are done and it's quiet. The kids are upstairs playing and Mike's in his office finishing up some work. I've got the blinds open and am enjoying the view of the lake and the evening sun.  It's just really peaceful right now and I am loving it.

    1. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

I prefer not to go without a menu plan. It's a habit I really need to get back into again. I set down last night and made one of the sales paper and with what's in stock here at the house.

Felt good to have it done.

      Thanks for stopping by.

    1. Oh lord yes, New Orleans during the summer is almost unbearable and I live in Louisiana lol. If you ever decided to go back, early spring or late fall is the best time. Or Christmas, they have a really nifty Christmas light display in the city park each year.

I hope to one day get out to Vegas and New York, I would love to see them.

      Thanks for stopping by!
