Happy Homemaker Monday ~ July 7

Good morning. I'm hopping on here really fast to get this up before my day starts. The family is heading over to Shreveport to enjoy Splash Kingdom today. We will be meeting up with my dad and his family for hours of swimming, sliding, and splashing in the water.

I was worried Kyla was going to miss out on the fun but she doesn't have to back at her bio-dad's until Tuesday evening, which has us all excited, her more so than anyone else. Which makes sense, what teen doesn't love the waterpark. It's going to be a really fun day.

Okay, let's get this Happy Homemaker Monday, hosted by Sandra at Diary of a Stay at Home Mom, started.

The Weather ~

It's a little cloudy this morning, and I'm hoping that sticks so we aren't in the full-on sun at the waterpark.

The rest of the week looks hot, like scorching hot. Our heat index makes days like Wednesday where the temperature is supposed to be 95 it ends up feeling like 102+. All the precipitation and humidity is gonna kill us.

Right now I am ~

Enjoying the peace and quiet before everyone wakes up to get ready to go. 8 minutes and counting.

On my bedside ~

My usual stuff. Fan, stuffed animals, medicines, glasses case, ponytail holders, my storage drawers which hold all manners of things, current book, and a bedside lamp.

On my reading pile ~

Before I Go to Sleep by S. J. Watson

The Scions of Shannara by Terry Brooks

Dark Tower 6: Song of Susannah by Stephen King

Movies or Shows I watched this weekend ~

Stranger Things Season 3! It's finally out. Mike and I spent part of the weekend watching it.

On my TV this week ~

Stranger Things Season 3
SG-1 Season 9
Pandora... I love being able to stream my music via my Firestick

On the menu for this week ~

We ended up eating out once or twice last week and had leftovers at least one night, so some of last week's meals are being moved over to this week.

Monday: Cici's Pizza with the family after the waterpark
Tuesday: lemon pepper chicken, veggies, rice with gravy
Wednesday: Insta-Pot Mongolian beef, roasted broccoli, stir-fry rice with yum yum sauce
Thursday: Chicken tacos, refried beans, corn (may even go crazy and make my own soft shells)
Friday: Shrimp boil, baby red potatoes, mini corn cobs
Saturday: Breakfast Casserole
Sunday: leftovers or eating out

On my to-do list ~

To-do lists are one of my favorite things, and they tend to be lengthy because I write down everything...it's the only I can make sure not to forget what I'm supposed to do lol.  I got most of my list done last week, I think the only thing I missed was ordering mom's stuff but in all fairness, she did ask me to hold off on ordering till after the first.

  • Regular household chores most of which I do on Friday's, see why here
  • Bring Kyla back to bio-dad's on Tuesday
  • Finish up laying out Hayley's first six weeks of lesson plans and familiarizing myself with the new curriculum we are using this year
  • order mom's treadmill
  • research a ten's unit for me and a better sleep mask for Mike and place an order
  • clean out drawers in the house (living room, bedroom, bathroom, kitchen)
  • post 2-3 times
  • figure out to share my blog post the correct way on Facebook, I have a Facebook page now! (it's an old I had for an old blog that I made over for here, wanna check it out? Go Here
  • I really need to spend at least a few hours one-day scanning family pictures for my inlaws or that pile is never going to get any smaller

What I am crocheting ~

I am still working on the baby blanket for my friend, sneak peek further down the post, and it should be done by mid-week. I have about 10 rows left to do then I need to add a small border.

After it's finished I'm going to pull back out the Christmas Ripple blanket and work some on it. It's about 1/3 of the way done. Be nice to have it done before Christmas.

Looking forward to ~

A quiet week at home. I was supposed to go to my dad's this week but canceled. I've just been so exhausted the last couple of weeks and Mike was worried about me making the 40-minute drive from and to the hotel every day.

So instead of traveling, I'm going to spend the week trying to catch up on sleep and piddling around the house.

Looking around the house ~

It's a bit messy, not dirty just cluttered. I hurt my upper back trying to stretch my hurting lower back, yeah my luck runs like that and I have no idea what I did to damage my lower back. *sigh* So I haven't done a lot of cleaning for the last few days, I'll get the family to help me get it all picked up Tuesday.

From the camera ~

This is the baby blanket I was working on for my friend. I took this Wednesday evening... at this point, I only had maybe 20 rows to go until it was finished. Then I noticed I really messed up.

Can you see my mistake? Once you see it you can't unsee it.

What I'm Wearing Today ~

Currently, I'm wearing my bathing suit, I'll change into shorts and a t-shirt after the waterpark.

One of my simple pleasures ~

Having my bed all made up at the start of the day.

From the blog this week ~

Tuesday:  July Goals
Wednesday: Family Time = Family Dinners?
Thursday: Happy Fourth of July
Friday: Rotel Pork Chops
Saturday: Grove Collaborative Deal
